Cedric Smith | Color: Blue

Before we dive into this incredible shoot, we’d love to know more about you! What’s your background, and what led you into the world of fashion and modeling?
I’m originally from New York and the proud father of two amazing daughters, Kalis and Kamryn. After serving 24 years and 5 months in the Marines, I retired in 2021. Currently, I work in Government as a Deputy Director in Cyber Communications, overseeing a Strategic Planning and Resource Division. I’m also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Fashion has always been a passion of mine. I believe how you show up is how you’ll be remembered. To me, that means showing up presentable, knowledgeable, and fashionable—always. Especially as a Black man in this space, I’ve made it a point to stand out without compromising who I am. Modeling was once just a dream—something I never thought was attainable. But now, after three years of professional modeling, I approach every opportunity with gratitude, as if it’s my first and last. That’s just how I show up.

If you had to sum yourself up in just five words, what would they be and why?
Leader. Professional. Dependable. Consistent. Success-driven.
I inspire others to lead, train, and grow. I believe professionalism is an expectation, and my consistency and reliability align with my drive to succeed.
What was your reaction when you first heard about the monochromatic theme for this shoot?
My immediate reaction was: “This is going to be epic!” Monochromatic shoots rarely miss.
This editorial is bold, avant-garde, and visually striking. Did the concept challenge or excite you as a model?
Absolutely. One of my goals when I started modeling was to be pushed beyond my comfort zone—to explore looks and concepts that stretch my imagination and creativity. This shoot did exactly that.
How did your assigned color influence your mood, energy, and expression during the shoot?
Wearing the blue monochromatic look made me feel strong, confident, and mysterious. I wanted that energy to be clear in my poses and movements.

Monochromatic fashion often makes a strong statement. What message do you think this cover shoot conveys?
It screams Unity in Fashion Diversity. I know each model involved personally, and I can see the blend of strengths—and even vulnerabilities—come together in one powerful image. It’s not about one person—it’s about all of us, united through fashion.
Whether it’s individuality, unity in diversity, or creative expression, what do you hope viewers take away from this imagery?
Fashion Unity. That’s the message.
From makeup transformation to embodying a fully monochrome aesthetic, what stood out to you most about this experience?
Watching the vision come to life through each model. Everyone brought something special, and the execution was inspiring.
If you could give one piece of guidance to the next generation of talent, what would it be?
Trust the process. Be a student until it’s your time to lead—and when that moment comes, lead responsibly. It’s bigger than just fashion.
When people look back at your work and influence, how do you want to be remembered?
Him. The one that did it.

If you could describe this cover in three words, what would they be?
Fashion. Creativity. Unity.
