You are our cover girl! How do you feel about it?

I feel blessed; God continues to open doors for me. I’m grateful for this opportunity and the support I’ve received to achieve the cover. I’m especially grateful to Marie Antionette and Jenleeion Magazine for this opportunity. I’m excited to see everything coming together.

Describe yourself in four words.

Only four words? I must make it count then.

I am confident, creative, adventurous, and kind.

What was it like to work with the iconic Marie Antoinette?

Her creativity is unmatched. It’s always a pleasure working with her because she has a vision and executes it well. Everything she does has a purpose behind it which is inspiring because she brings awareness to a lot of matters through fashion. She genuinely cares about people and supports them in any way she can without expecting anything in return. Her devotion to her craft inspires anyone she is around. Any opportunity I have to work with her, I will because I respect how serious she is about her gifts.

You also joined the fashion show in October for a noble cause. How was that experience?

It was a memorable experience to be a part of a show that is bigger than myself. Every garment had purpose behind it and was designed specifically for each model to embody the message of the show. I had the privilege of working with various models from different walks of life and to see us all come together to make Marie’s vision come to life is an unforgettable experience. The response received from the audience throughout the show displayed how we carried the vision out well.

How do you protect yourself from potential risks as a woman?

Truthfully, I pray Psalms 91 over everything in my life. I wear the armor of God because there are things in this world we cannot see, and I must be protected spiritually. I have experience with self-defense courses and trained as a boxer for a period of time; I am able to handle myself. However, I am aware my training can only take me so far. I am licensed to carry and am sure to protect myself and home if needed. Preventive measures I take include changing my daily routines and being discreet when I am utilizing social media such as not posting my location. My friends joke with me about how aware I am but being a woman is risky and I want to be sure I am always taking the necessary steps to ensure those around me are safe and myself.

Who are your role models and why?

My mom and grandmother are two of my biggest role models because they have played a major role in transforming me into the woman I am today. They have taught me how to carry myself as a woman in Christ through their actions and have always encouraged me to reach beyond the stars for the things I want in life. In addition, one of my favorite artists, Nicki Minaj, gave me the courage at a young age to pursue my career as an actress and model because she worked in a male dominant industry but refused to allow anyone to stand in the way of her much-deserved success. She remained true to her values and kept her integrity and as I develop as a model and actress my integrity is non-negotiable. Honestly, there are a lot of people who have made an impact on my life and will continue to do so as I grow.

What does empowerment mean to you and how do you empower other women?

Empowerment means to me having the ability to do something. I choose to empower other women through my compassion. If I am skilled at something and know another woman is in need, I would extend myself to assist in any way that I may be beneficial. As women, we don’t always ask for help because over the years we’ve developed the independent women mindset. I am an example of being supportive and motivating, which may look like sharing an encouraging message or buying a friend lunch that I know had a rough week. Each situation is different, but I make certain that any woman feels sisterhood when they encounter me.

Rating: 1 out of 5.

What advice would you give to young ladies who want to pursue their passion?

Go for it! Gain a strong foundation within yourself first and don’t allow anything or anyone to stop you to obtain the success you desire. I am a believer in Christ and encourage others to build their own relationship as you navigate through life. In addition, attain an education because the mind is a terrible thing to waste. Whether you go to college or gain a certification, pursue the education behind your passion.

What does the phrase, “I am human too” mean to you?

This phrase means to me, it’s okay to be flawed and make mistakes. We are not better than the next but unique in our own ways. We must accept who we are and appreciate our differences because that’s what makes us special. I may be a top performer, but I still have my weaknesses that make me human, and I don’t want it to be held against me. I am doing the best I can with what I have.
