Thank you for chatting with me. How could you describe your music?

I’d describe my music as being soulful, organic …healing ..um … a new movement in music

Can you describe your creative process behind the new song “This Song”?

Wow I was able to get with an amazing producer, by the name of Toxic and (a writer D Lyric) and at that time it was just great timing …um…its just time for great music to come back, not that it’s not here, but it’s time for songs that are going to evoke love and peace and happiness again… I just think that it’s a void and hopefully, everybody feel the same.

My main inspiration…what is my main inspiration?

Wow!! I guess it’s back to music… music inspired me so much to keep going ..even in my painful days, my painful moments… Uh.. even when I don’t know which way or I don’t see my way, I could listen to a song that kinda inspired me, whether it’s a spiritual song, whether it’s R&B and at times it had nothing to do with genre. I create for the people… and sometimes I get the opportunity to be blessed at the same time but mostly create for the people.

Did my style evolve since the beginning of my career?

Absolutely. It’s evolved..uh…I remember I just used to run a lot..or do a lot of runs and I’ve always said my name in songs and uh it’s just amazing to see the growth in myself and I also have the opportunity to watch other people that I saw grow as well so…I’m growing every day when it comes to this music thing and uh to the business.

Would you agree that it’s very important to learn, study and understand, the old music and the music history and why?

Absolutely. Yes! Um.. That’s why I think that it’s called “Old Skool”, you know it’s class, it’s an opportunity for us to learn, we learn from the people that put it down before us. Ah, I’m inspired and learned so much from Donnie Hathaway. I’ve learned so much from Stevie Wonder. Not just their music, but what they were going through at the time of the recording, and their feelings as well.

What is the biggest problem have you encountered in the journey of music?

Wow.. so I was signed to Death Row Records at the age of 15 and in the act of the demise of Death Row Records, I think trying to ..uh.. regain a light without people seeing that I was signed to that label in a negative light. That’s been pretty hard…but uh…I’ve always…I’ve always been ah.. eager to show people my music and ah….persistent in just doing that…I mean you know no matter what no matter if it’s with a large label or doing it alone…being able to do what I love doing is what keeps me moving.

If I could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?

I guess how Artists are treated… uh I guess how Artists are treated. Most Artists are treated are uh..first erring…you know going through bad situations. I wish there could be laws that could protect artists that just don’t know.

What is next for Danny Boy?

Hopefully, everybody is feeling this song, “This Song”. Hopefully, I get an opportunity to perform it on stage and that’s what I’ve always dreamed of performing on. And uh hopefully, this album that will be released February, Valentine’s Day of 2023, the album catch on, and I’ll be able to do what I’ve always wanted to do, and that’s sing and that’s share my music.

What do you want your legacy to be?

My legacy, ah… I would want my legacy to be that no matter what I’ve never stopped. And that my work ethic, I think more than anything more important to me, many if not important …ah working is important because if you continue to work, you’ll be able to get to the next position and ah… I hope my kids learn from that. As well as the businesses that I put forth. I hope the bricks that lay will be a piece of the building, that’ll be a part of the legacy that uh. I’ve always continued to leave.
